A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA,PROVIDING FOR SOCIAL SECURITY COVERAGE FOR
ALL CITY EMPLOYEES EXCEPT POLICE OFFICERS WHO ARE
PRECLUDED FROM THE COVERAGE SINCE THEY ARE PAR-
TICIPATING IN PUBLIC SAFETY PERSONNEL RETIREMENT
SYSTEM.
WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,through its
City Council,having reviewed the Agreement for Social Security
coverage entered into between the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,
and the Arizona State Retirement System Board dated January 24,
1979;and
WHEREAS,i t being the position of the Council that the
Agreement i s not valid because i t fails to include provisions
mandated by A.R.S.38-704 A.3.;and
WHEREAS,the Council desires to enter into a Modified
Agreement which would contain this mandatory provision and which
would be effective for all employees as of February 1,1979,except
with respect to coverage of police officers who are currently under
the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Apache
Junction,Arizona,through its City Council,enter into a Modified
Agreement for Social Security coverage providing for coverage of
all City employees as of February 1,1979,except police officers
who are precluded from coverage since they are participating in the
Public Safety Personnel Retirement System.
