A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA,REQUESTING THAT THE SOIL CONSERVATION SERVICE
OF THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE PERFORM A SOIL
SURVEY FOR CERTAIN LANDS IN THE APACHE JUNCTION AREA.
WHEREAS,a soils survey has been conducted by the Soil Conservation
Service for the Apache Junction township,the results of which will
be available in the near future;and
WHEREAS,the lands located in Township 1 South,Range 8 East,
Sections 1 through 6 were not included in this soil survey but were
part of the Apache Junction General Plan Study Area and were designated
for future industrial,commercial,and residential development;and
WHEREAS,proper city planning requires study of conditions outside
the corporate boundaries;and
WHEREAS,a soils survey can be used to develop land use studies
that will aid i n selecting and developing industrial,business,residential,
recreational,and agricultural sites;and
WHEREAS,a soils survey can be used to estimate the kind and degree
of limitation likely to be encountered at a given location for buildings,
septic tank absorption fields,roads and streets,and flood control
structures;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of
the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,that the City Manager request
through the appropriate officials of the United States Department of
Agriculture,Soil Conservation Service,that a soil survey be conducted
for the lands located in Township 1 South,Range 8 East,Sections 1
through 6,Gila and Salt River Base and Meridian;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted
to the Soil Conservation Service.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,THIS 19TH DAY OF OCTOBER ,1982.
