A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,PINAL COUNTY,ARIZONA,
REQUESTING INTERVENER STATUS FROM THE ARIZONA
CORPORATION COMMISSION IN THE MATTER OF ARIZONA
WATER COMPANY,AN ARIZONA CORPORATION,AND THE
GRANTING OF A LATE FILED PETITION.
WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,as a
governmental entity,i s a customer of Arizona Water Company;and,
WHEREAS,a substantial number of residents of Apache Junction
are customers of Arizona Water Company;and,
WHEREAS,tourism and the influx of winter visitors are a
major industry of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona at the present
time;and,
WHEREAS,the rate increase being sought by Arizona Water
Company could adversely affect the number of winter visitors seeking
refuge i n Apache Junction from the high utility costs of colder regions;
and,
WHEREAS,this would affect the economy of the City of Apache
Junction,Arizona;and,
WHEREAS,the rate increase sought by the aforementioned
corporation would be a hardship upon the residents of the City of Apache
Junction,and the City itself;and,
WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction did not have sufficient
notice i n which to take appropriate action i n this matter:
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,that the Mayor and City Council
of the City of Apache Junction,Pinal County,Arizona,direct the City
Manager and the City Attorney to request and petition the Arizona
Corporation Commission i n the matter of Docket #U-1445-82-034,
(application of Arizona Water Company,an Arizona Corporation for a
hearing to determine the fair value of the company's property for rate
making purposes)the granting of a late filed petition,and,i n addition,
be permitted intervener status.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,THIS 19TH DAY OF NOVEMBER ,1982.
