HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 82-101 RESOLUTION NO.82-10 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,DECLARING ITS OPPOSITION TO SENATE BILL 1150 PERTAINING TO ANNEXATION PROCEDURES. WHEREAS,Arizona is a diverse state and for that reason persons invest within various regions differently,some regions having sub- stantial part -year and/or absentee landowners;and WHEREAS,in some outlying areas beyond municipal boundaries there may be substantial small lots having many owners;and WHEREAS,the existing formula and signature requirements create a substantial difficulty and appear to be fair and equitable considering the overall Arizona circumstance;and WHEREAS,rules made too difficult to comply with may prohibit a future annexation in a time of need to resolve a potential or existing health and/or safety hazard to the detriment of residents living in the area because absentee landowners either could not be contacted or would not provide their signatures; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,that i t is in opposition to the passage by the Arizona State Legislature of Senate Bill 1150 pertaining to annexation procedures. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed and authorized to send certified copies of this resolution to the Arizona legislative delegation from this area and to Governor Bruce Babbitt. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,this 2nd day of March 1982.
