A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,DECLARING SUPPORT
FOR SENATE BILL 1362,LOTTERY FUND USE,AS AMENDED
BY THE FINANCE COMMITTEE,AND URGING ITS PASSAGE
BY THE STATE OF ARIZONA 35TH LEGISLATURE.
WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction has a population i n excess
of 10,000 residents and i s presently receiving a distribution of
Lottery Funds based on this population;and
WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction has recently acquired
a library facility and will,i n the future,seek to improve this
facility and to provide additional avenues of community enrichment
i n the areas of the arts and the humanities;and
WHEREAS,Senate Bill 1362,Lottery Fund Use,as amended by
the Finance Committee,would enable Apache Junction to exercise an
option with regard to use of these lottery funds and permit the
authorization of ten -percent (10%)of the funds distributed under
the Local Transportation Assistance Fund to be used for cultural,
educational,historical,recreational or scientific facilities or
programs when matched by non-public funds.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,by the Mayor and City
Council of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,that the City
Council hereby recommends to the State of Arizona 35th Legislature,
the passage of Senate Bill 1362,Lottery Fund Use,providing the
City of Apache Junction with a local option regarding the use of
lottery funds by permitting ten -percent (10%)of Local Transpor-
tation Assistance Fund monies to be used for community enrichment
when matched by outside funds.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of
Apache Junction,Arizona,this 16th day of March o ,19 82
