HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 82-22RESOLUTION NO. 82-22 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, FINAL COUNTY, ARIZONA, INDICATING THE INTENT OF THIS BODY TO MAINTAIN, AFTER THE FIRST 12 MONTHS OF FUNDING BY THE OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY OF THE ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF TRANS- PORTATION, WITH CITY FUNDING THE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM REQUESTED FOR FUNDING BY THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION THROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 82-21.THIS PROGRAM WILL CONTINUE TO BE OPERATIONAL WITHIN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION FOR A MINIMUM OF 12 SUCCEEDING MONTHS FOLLOWING THE END OF FUNDING FROM THE OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Office of Highway Safety will consider the request of the City Council of the City of Apache Junction for the funding of a Traffic Enforcement Unit, Support Equipment and Personnel for the period of 12 months; and WHEREAS, the City Council believes it to be in the best interest of the City to maintain such program following the end of funding from the Office of Highway Safety for minimum of 12 succeeding months and longer as provided by available funds; and WHEREAS, the purpose of this resolution is to show the intent of the City of Apache Junction to continue with this Traffic Enforcement program after its funding from the Office of Highway Safety ceases; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction, Arizona, that the Chief of Police is hereby authorized and directed to contine with the Traffic Enforcement Program, if funded by the Office of Highway Safety, for a minimum of 12 succeeding months following the end of said funding: PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, THIS 18TH DAY OF MAY 1982.
