AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA:ESTABLISHING LOCATIONS FOR STOP SIGNS IN THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA;REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS;PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY;AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA THAT:
SECTION I IN GENERAL
Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes Annotated §9-276,i t is in the public
interest to ensure safe,effective and efficient traffic flow along public
rights -of -way within the City of Apache Junction.Arizona.The Mayor and City
Council find that traffic control devices are necessary to further this goal.
Pursuant to Apache Junction City Code §12-2-4 and 12-2-10 (A)and (B).the City
of Apache Junction may erect and maintain Stop signs to regulate traffic at
intersections.
Now,therefore be i t ordained that stop signs be established at the following
locations:
Eastbound Southern Avenue at Starr Road
Northbound Lawson at 16th Avenue
Eastbound 36th Avenue
Westbound 18th Avenue
Southbound Vista Road
Westbound 26th Avenue
Eastbound 26th Avenue
Southbound Winchester
Westbound 39th Avenue
Eastbound 39th Avenue
Southbound Padre Road
at Ironwood Drive
at Starr Road
at Southern Avenue
at Winchester Road
at Royal Palm Road
Road at Baseline Avenue
at Padre Road
at Padre Road
at Baseline Avenue
Northbound Padre Road at 38th Avenue
Westbound 37th Avenue at Winchester Road
Westbound 36th Avenue at Colt Road
Northbound Colt Road at 34th Avenue
Westbound 34th Avenue at Winchester Road

Furthermore,the Director of Public Works and the Director of Public Safety are
hereby empowered and directed to initiate appropriate action to install,maintain
and enforce said traffic control devices.
SECTION I I REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinances,or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,are hereby
repealed.
SECTION III PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY
I f any section,subsection,sentence,phrase,clause or portion of this
ordinance,or any part of the code adopted herein by reference,is for any reason
held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent
jurisdiction,such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions thereof.
SECTION IV DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
It is necessary for the preservation of the peace,health and safety of the City
of Apache Junction,Arizona,that this ordinance become effective immediately,
an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be effective
immediately upon passage and adoption by the City Council,and is exempt from the
referendum provisions of the Constitution and the laws of the State of Arizona
as provided in A.R.S.§19-142(b).
