A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA,RECOMMENDING TO THE ARIZONA CORPORATION
COMMISSION THE DENIAL OF AN IN -STATE ACCESS CHARGE FOR
TELEPHONE COMPANIES.
WHEREAS,the current costs for telephone services i s a substantial
portion of the operating budget for the City of Apache Junction;
and
WHEREAS,the resources of governmental entities are becoming
increasingly more scarce;and
WHEREAS,i t i s i n the best interest of the taxpayers of the State
of Arizona and the City of Apache Junction to hold down operating
costs by recommending to the Arizona Corporation Commission denial
of the proposed in -state telephone access charge;and
WHEREAS,the "access"charge i s not optional and will be added to
the cost of telephone services as provided by companies such as
MCI and SPRINT;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I .That the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache
Junction,Arizona,opposes the proposed in -state access
charge presently before the Arizona Corporation Commission
and does hereby recommend denial of said access charge.
