A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,PINAL COUNTY,ARIZONA,
OPPOSING S61072 AND CALLING FOR THE LEGISLATURE OF
THE STATE OF ARIZONA TO DEFEAT S61072.
WHEREAS,the Legislature of the State
S61072;and
WHEREAS,S61072 would have the effect
Apache Junction Airport;and
of Arizona i s considering
of prohibiting the proposed
WHEREAS,S61072 i s not i n conformance with Article 4,Part 2,
Section 19,of the Arizona State Constitution because i t singles out
Apache Junction for disparate treatment not applied to other cities or
towns in the state;and
WHEREAS,SB1072 discriminates against the City and residents of
Apache Junction;and
WHEREAS,S61072 violates the principle of local control;and
WHEREAS,S61072 denies the citizens of Apache Junction the right
to determine their own fate;and
WHEREAS,S61072 i s bad legislation that would set a dangerous
precedent for all cities and towns i n the State of Arizona;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of
the City of Apache Junction,Arizona that S61072 be opposed and that the
citizens of the state of Arizona demand that this legislation be defeated.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 7TH DAY OF APRIL ,1983,
BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA.
