A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA,VOICING OPPOSITION TO THE PROPOSED USE OF
STATE HIGHWAY USER REVENUE FUNDS TO EXPAND AND IMPROVE STATE
PRISON FACILITIES.
WHEREAS,citizens of the State of Arizona have benefited from the
use of Highway User Revenue Funds i n the form of improved highways and
local streets;and
WHEREAS,tax payers have become accustomed to a dollar portion of
their fuel useage being alloted to provide roadway improvements;and
WHEREAS,all cities and counties throughout Arizona rely on
Highway User Revenue Funds to provide essential services to citizens;and
WHEREAS,smaller municipalities,such as Apache Junction,rely
heavily on the Highway User Revenue Fund to perform essential street
repairs;and
WHEREAS,to deny Apache Junction its share of Highway User
Revenue Funds would create road safety hazards and force undue hardship
upon our residents.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,by the Mayor and City Council
of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,that on behalf of the citizens
of Apache Junction,we voice total opposition to the use of Highway User
Revenue Funds to expand and improve State prison facilities and do urge
our State legislators to seek alternative means of financing these
facilities and programs.

OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,THIS 4TH DAY OF OCTOBER ,1983.
