A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,PINAL AND MARICOPA COUNTIES,ARIZONA,PROPOSING A ONE-
TIME BUDGET OVERRIDE FOR THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION.
WHEREAS,the Arizona State •Constitution permits the submission to
the voters of a city or town of a one-time budget override;and
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Apache Junction,after
two public hearings,has determined that a one-time budget override i s
necessary for the City of Apache Junction;and
WHEREAS,that a one-time budget override i s i n the best interest
of the City of Apache Junction;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I :That pursuant to the provisions of the Arizona Constitution,
Article IX,Section 20,Subsection 2C,the following proposed one-time
budget override i s hereby referred to the qualified electors of the City
of Apache Junction for approval or rejection at the Special Election to
be held on May 15,1984,which election i s designated as the election at
which the one-time budget override i s to be voted on.The proposed one-
time budget override i s to be numbered Proposition 101 and i s as follows:
PROPOSITION 101:
THE CITY COUNCIL SHALL NOT AUTHORIZE EXPENDITURES OF LOCAL
REVENUES IN EXCESS OF THE STATE -IMPOSED SPENDING LIMITATION
EXCEPT UPON THE AFFIRMATIVE VOTE OF AT LEAST TWO-THIRDS OF
THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND APPROVAL BY A MAJORITY
OF THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY.
SUCH APPROVAL BY A MAJORITY OF THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS VOTING
SHALL BE FOR A SPECIFIC AMOUNT IN EXCESS OF THE EXPENDITURE
LIMITATION AND MUST OCCUR PRIOR TO THE FISCAL YEAR IN WHICH
THE LIMIT IS TO BE EXCEEDED.
SECTION II:That the proposed one-time budget override referred to i n
Section I hereof,i s to be filed with the City Clerk to be placed on
the election ballot for the City Special Election to be held May 15,1984.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,THIS 3RD DAY OF APRIL ,1984.
