HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 86-28RESOLUTION NO.86-28 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,IDENTIFYING ADDITIONAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING NEEDS AND ACTIVITIES TO BE UNDERTAKEN TO MEET SUCH NEEDS. WHEREAS,Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended through the Housing and Urban -Rural Recovery Act of 1983,states that the primary objective of the Title and of the community development program of each grantee i s the "development of viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities,principally for persons of low and moderate income..."; and WHEREAS,Section 106(d)(2)(D)requires the Governor of each state to certify that each unit of general local government to be distributed funds will identify its community development and housing needs,including the needs of low and moderate income persons,and the activities to be undertaken to meet such needs;and WHEREAS,on September 9,1985 the City of Apache Junction adopted Resolution No.85-33 which identified the community development and housing needs,including the needs of low and moderate income persons,as: flood drainage facilities to minimize property damage; improve access by emergency vehicles and residents;to minimize traffic safety hazards;and reduce roadway maintenance expense NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,hereby state that additional community development and housing needs of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,including the needs of low and moderate income persons are: 1.A comprehensive housing survey. 2.Reliable housing information for the community. 3.A plan for the orderly growth of the community and continued effort to improve neighborhoods. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,hereby state that the activity proposed to be under- taken to meet such additional needs are: 1.A comprehensive housing survey to assess current housing. 2.Development of findings into a source document. 3.Evaluate the findings,evaluate possible public and private resources. 4.To develop strategies,regulations and policies to guide the community in appropriate reconstruction and construction of housing and related public facilities. PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA,THIS 23rd DAY OF July ,19 86 .
