A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,REQUESTING THE ARIZONA DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION TO AUTHORIZE TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE
FUNDS PURSUANT TO SECTION 1102,ARIZONA REVISED STATUTES.
WHEREAS,the Thirty-fifth Legislature,second special session of
1981 established a Local Transportation Assistance Fund from the proceeds
of the Arizona State Lottery;and
WHEREAS,the Director of the Arizona Department of Transportation
shall determine the total amount of requests for Local Transportation Funds
from Cities and Towns;and
WHEREAS,these funds are to be distributed on a monthly basis by
the State Treasurer to cities and towns requesting funds;and
WHEREAS,these funds are to be used for the following purposes:
Road and street construction,street repair and maintenance,street drain-
age,construction at traffic signals,installation of street lights,and
road improvement and traffic signal designs;and
Up to ten percent (10%)of the local transportation assistance funds may be
used for cultural,educational,historical,recreational,or scientific
facilities or programs i f the monies are matched equally by nonpublic monies
received by the City of Apache Junction and expended for the same purpose,
except if,during the fiscal year,the total distributed from the local
transportation assistance fund i s less than twenty-three million dollars.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,THAT the Arizona Department of Trans-
portation i s hereby requested to take necessary steps i n authorizing
Local Transportation Assistance Funds for the above -mentioned purposes.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,THIS 20TH DAY OF MAY ,1986.
