A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA,REQUESTING THE ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF TRANS—
PORTATION TO RETAIN THE WESTBOUND LANES OF STATE ROUTE 60 WITH
THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE SUPERSTITION FREEWAY IN THE VICINITY
BETWEEN THE FREEWAY TERMINII AND GOLDFIELD ROAD.
WHEREAS the Arizona Department of Transportation has scheduled the con—
struction of the Superstition Freeway between Power Road and State Route 60;
and
WHEREAS current designs anticipate the construction of interchanges at
Ironwood Drive,Idaho Road,Tomahawk Road,Goldfield Road and US 60 in the
Apache Junction area;and
WHEREAS the design of the Superstition Freeway interchange at US 60 may
significantly impact the wellbeing of the Apache Junction community.
NOW,THEREFORE,be i t resolved by the Mayor and City Council of the
City of Apache Junction,Arizona,requests the Arizona Department of Trans—
portation to provide for the retention of the Westbound lanes of US 60 with
the construction of the Superstition Freeway in the vicinity between the
freeway terminii and Goldfield Road.
PASSED this 3RD day of FEBRUARY ,19 87 by the Mayor
and City Council of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona.
