A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,SUPPORTING AND ENDORSING THE
"KIDS INSIST DRUGS STOP"ANTI -DRUG CAMPAIGN SPONSORED BY
THE STUDENTS,FACULTY AND STAFF OF GOLD CANYON ELEMENTARY
SCHOOL.
WHEREAS,i t is the goal of this City Council that drug abuse
be prevented i n our schools and that programs be
established to eliminate this problem from our
community;and
WHEREAS,the strengthening of the role of the family,the
schools and local officials will serve to decrease
the potential for drug abuse among the young;and
WHEREAS,the students,faculty and staff of Gold Canyon
Elementary School have planned a series of events
throughout the month of February aimed at fighting
the use of drugs by young people and have asked
for our involvement in their campaign to combat
drug abuse in our community;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,by the Mayor and City Council
of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,that the City Council
unanimously endorse and support the students,faculty and staff
of Gold Canyon Elementary School in their anti -drug campaign
and further commend them on their efforts to prevent drug
abuse among the young.

JUNCTION,ARIZONA,THIS 3RD DAY OF FEBRUARY ,1987.
