A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,PINAL AND MARICOPA COUNTIES,ARIZONA,DECLARING ITS
INTENT TO IMPROVE THE INTERSECTION OF BROADWAY AND MERIDIAN
LOCATED WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,
DESCRIBING THE IMPROVEMENTS,DESCRIBING THE LAND NECESSARY OR
CONVENIENT TO BE TAKEN FOR THE IMPROVEMENTS AND DECLARING
SAID IMPROVEMENTS TO BE OF GENERAL PUBLIC BENEFIT, AND
AUTHORIZING ACTION BY THE CITY MANAGER AND THE CITY ATTORNEY.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA,THAT:
1.The City intends to make an improvement of the intersection located at
Broadway and Meridian Roads,Apache Junction.
2.A description of the improvement is as follows:
The East 1 of the intersection of Broadway and Meridian Roads,Apache
Junction,Arizona,shall be improved to provide for storm drainage,
curbs and guttering,extension of street pavement,and traffic
signal ization.
Specific details of the improvements are described in a plan known as,
"Plan for Construction of Broadway,Hawes to County Line Road (Meridian
Road)Project No.68300".A copy of the plan and specifications is on
file and available for public inspection from 8:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m.,
Monday through Friday, at the Director of Public Works Office,Apache
Junction City Hall,1001 North Idaho Road,Apache Junction,Arizona.
3.The land necessary and convenient to be taken for said improvement is
a triangular shaped piece of land described as follows:
A parcel of land located in the Southwest 1 of the Southwest 1 of the
Southwest 1 of Section 19,Township 1 North,Range 8 East,of the Gila
and Salt River Basin Meridian,Pinal County,Arizona;more particularly
described as,beginning at the Southwest corner of Lot 17 in Smythes
County Line Subdivision as recorded in Book 8,Page 13,of Pinal County
Records,and thence continuing East (R)30'thence Northwest approxi-
mately 421 feet to the point on the West line of said Lot 17,thencecontinuingSouth005minutes30 seconds West (R)30'back to the true
point of beginning;said parcel containing approximately 0.01 acres.
4.The proposed improvement in the opinion of the City Council for the
City of Apache Junction,Arizona,is one of general public benefit and
there shall not be created a public improvement assessment district
with regard to this improvement.
5.The City Attorney and the City Manager are authorized to negotiate for
the purchase of said land for a sum not to exceed one thousand dollars
($1,000.00)and should efforts to procure the land through negotiations
fail,that they are authorized to employ the services of a qualified
real estate appraiser for purposes of securing an appraisal on the
property required for this public improvement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 3RD DAY OF MARCH ,1987,BY THE MAYOR
AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA.
