RESOLUTION NO.87-18
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,EXPRESSING INTENT TO ADOPT
THE MODEL CITY TAX CODE AS RECOMMENDED BY THE MODEL CITY
TAX CODE COMMITTEE AND THE LEAGUE OF ARIZONA CITIES AND
TOWNS.
WHEREAS,prompted by actions of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce
and members of the State Legislature,municipalities
throughout Arizona joined with the League of Arizona
Cities and Towns in formulating a Model City Tax
Code;and
WHEREAS,the Model City Tax Code provides statewide uniformity
to sales tax while still permitting local options;and
WHEREAS,Arizona municipalities spent two years developing
the Model City Tax Code in response to the concerns
of the business community over diverse tax codes;and
WHEREAS,the final draft of the Model City Tax Code addresses
the concerns of the business community,provides
flexibility for municipalities,and establishes a
common language among both entities in regard to
sales tax.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council
of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,that i t is the
intent of this council to adopt the Model City Tax Code
to be tailored to the existing sales tax regulations of
the City of Apache Junction and giving direction to the
City Manager to proceed with the actions necessary to
finalize the Model City Tax Code for adoption by the
Apache Junction City Council.

OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,THIS 9TH DAY OF MARCH
1987.
