A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,REQUESTING THE ARIZONA DEPART-
MENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO AUTHORIZE TRANSPORTATION ASSIS-
TANCE FUNDS PURSUANT TO SECTION 28-2602,ARIZONA REVISED
STATUTES.
WHEREAS,the Thirty-fifth Legislature,second special session of
1981,established a Local Transportation Assistance Fund from the proceeds
of the Arizona State Lottery;and
WHEREAS,the Director of the Arizona Department of Transportation
shall determine the total amount of requests for Local Transportation Funds
from Cities and Towns;and
WHEREAS,these funds are to be distributed on a monthly basis by
the State Treasurer to cities and towns requesting funds;and
WHEREAS,these funds are to be usedtfor the following purposes:
Road and street construction,street repair and maintenance,street drainage,
construction and traffic signals,installation of street lights,and road
improvement and traffic signal designs;and up to ten percent (10%)of the
Local Transportation Assistance Funds may be used for cultural,educational,
historical,recreational,or scientific facilities or programs if the monies
are matched equally by non-public monies received by the City of Apache
Junction and expended for the same purpose except if,during the fiscal
year,the total distributed from the Local Transportation Assistance Fund
is less than twenty-three million dollars.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of
the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,that the Arizona Department of Trans-
portation is hereby requested to take the necessary steps in authorizing
Local Transportation Assistance Funds for the above -mentioned purposes.
