RESOLUTION NO.88-17
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA,ADOPTING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES FOR PROVIDING
CITY COUNCIL DIRECTION TO CITY STAFF.
WHEREAS,i t is the desire of the Apache Junction City Council to protect
the public's interest while providing for the efficient use of city funds in
the allocation of staff time;and
WHEREAS,in providing city staff with specific direction on city policies,
goals,priorities and proposed legislation,the operation of city business will
be enhanced while promoting mutual cooperation and understanding between the
city council and city staff.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AS FOLLOWS:
1.Prior to requesting research and preparation of any item of
proposed legislation,such item shall be placed upon the agenda
of a regular or special meeting of the City Council for dis-
cussion and consideration at which time the Council may desig-
nate specific provisions to be contained in the proposed legis-
lation.The affirmative vote of at least four members of the
Council will be required prior to any additional staff work
being performed on the proposed legislation.
2.Prior to proceeding with any program or project for which Council
discussion is advisable,or for which specific direction is not
clear or for which specific direction is needed,any member of
the City Council,the City Manager,or member of the city staff
through the City. Manager,may place such an item upon the agenda
of a regular or special City Council meeting for discussion and
consideration,at which time specific instructions and direction
can be provided.The affirmative vote of at least four members
of the City Council will be required prior to proceeding with
such project or program.

ARIZONA,THIS 7TH DAY OF JUNE ,1988.
