A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA,PROVIDING DIRECTION,BY COUNCIL INITIATIVE,
ON PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO MINIMUM LOT SIZE REQUIREMENTS IN
SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL ZONING DISTRICTS.
WHEREAS,the State of Arizona Department of Environmental Quality,
has established requirements and regulations governing on-
site sewage disposal whichwil limit the number of
dwelling units per acre;and
WHEREAS,the development of safe,healthful and attractive neighbor-
hoods with paved streets,proper lighting,adequate water
retention and drainage,and proper planning is the desire
of this City Council;and
WHEREAS,the City Council wishes to encourage quality development
which provides a safe environment for the community and
protects the public's health,safety and welfare.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the
City of Apache Junction,Arizona,that direction be given to the
City Manager,city staff and Planning and Zoning Commission to meet
all legal requirements governing amendments t o the City of Apache
Junction Zoning Ordinance and to return for consideration and public
hearing by the Apache Junction City Council minimum lot size require-
ments of 20,000 square feet for single family residential dwellings
outside of approved subdivisions;and
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUCNTION,ARIZONA,THIS 19TH DAY OF JANUARY
1988.
