HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 88-27RESOLUTION NO.88-27 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,OPPOSING THE HIGHER RATES CHARGED BY MOUNTAIN BELL/MOUNTAIN STATES TELEPHONE FOR CITY RESIDENTS CALLING OUTSIDE THE APACHE JUNCTION AREA. WHEREAS,Apache Junction residents are presently paying higher rates to Mountain Bell/Mountain States Telephone for calls made to surrounding areas such as Chandler and Phoenix;and WHEREAS,present zone districts and interzone call charges are based upon those approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission nearly thirty-five years ago;and WHEREAS,the present call zone districts and rates need to be upgraded to reflect the increase in residential and business growth over the past thirty-five years;and WHEREAS,the Arizona Corporation Commission should review the present zone and rate structure to eliminate random application of higher rates and create a more equitable plan for telephone service useage. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,that Mountain Bell/Mountain States Telephone review the procedures for establishing call zone districts and interzone rates and submit such information to the Arizona Corporation Commission in order to obtain a more equitable application of these rates throughout the City of Apache Junction and surrounding areas.
