RESOLUTION 89-34
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,EXPRESSING SUPPORT
FOR THE CONCEPT OF AN EAST VALLEY CAMPUS OF ARIZONA
STATE UNIVERSITY.
WHEREAS,Arizona State University has
mission;and,
WHEREAS,Arizona State University is
and organizational goals into the future;and,
WHEREAS,a proposal is under consideration
Valley campus for postgraduate students;and,
WHEREAS,other proposals are being examined that would extend
University services and cultural enrichment programs to the community at
various locations;and,
WHEREAS,the East Valley represents current and projected dynamic
growth and development potentials;and,
WHEREAS,Apache Junction is part of the East Valley community;and,
WHEREAS,Apache Junction citizens and institutions would benefit
from the convenience and support facilities of an East Valley campus of
ASU;therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED,that the City of Apache Junction endorses the
concept of an East Valley campus of ASU located on a parcel of State land
in Maricopa County, Section 2,Township 1,Section 7 East;and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the City of Apache Junction endorses
the concept of a postgraduate professional school,or third and fourth year
undergraduate school as supplementing the community college system and
reducing the undergraduate load on the university as a prudent management
concept;and therefore,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the City of Apache Junction supports
other efforts within the East Valley to promote these goals;and therefore,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the City of Apache Junction wishes
to be represented in any groups or tasks teams formed to explore the
establishment of an ASU East Valley campus.
