HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 89-03RESOLUTION NO.89-03 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,PINAL AND MARICOPA COUNTIES,ARIZONA, PROVIDING NOTICE OF THE REGULAR PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD MARCH 21,1989;ESTABLISHING POLLING PLACES AND VOTING DIS- TRICTS AND THE TIMES THAT SUCH POLLS WILL BE OPEN;PRO- VIDING FOR ELECTION OFFICIALS AND FIXING THEIR RATE OF COMPENSATION;AND PROVIDING FOR THE RECORDATION OF THE ELECTORS'CHOICE. WHEREAS,it is provided by law for the holding of a Primary Election for the City of Apache Junction;and WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction has by resolution called a Primary Election to be held on March 21,1989. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,as follows: SECTION I DESIGNATION OF ELECTION DATE That the Primary Election for the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,be held and conducted on Tuesday,March 21,1989,for the purpose of nominating or electing candidates for the offices of mayor and city council.Any can- didate receiving a majority of all of the votes cast at the Primary Election will be declared elected without running at the General Election. A proposal to continue a local alternative expenditure limitation -home rule option will be considered at the Primary Election for the City of Apache Junction on Tuesday,March 21,1989. SECTION I I DESIGNATION OF POLLING PLACES AND VOTING DISTRICTS That Pinal and Maricopa County precincts be used and that the voters residing in Pinal County Precincts 22A and 22B and Maricopa Precinct Apache shall vote at Superstition Mountain Elementary School,1700 W.Broadway, Apache Junction,Pinal County,Arizona;and that the voters residing in Pinal County Precincts 22C and 22F shall vote at Apache Junction Junior High School,801 W.Southern,Apache Junction,Pinal County,Arizona;and that the voters residing in Pinal County Precincts 22D and 22E shall vote at Community Christian Church,1150 W.Superstition,Apache Junction,Pinal County,Arizona. The polls on the day of the Primary Election shall be open from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. SECTION III PROVIDING FOR ELECTION OFFICIALS AND FIXING THEIR RATE OF COMPENSATION RESOLUTION NO.89-03 PAGE ONE OF THREE The following officials will be appointed to conduct the Primary Election on March 21,1989,in the positions and precincts as indicated: Pinal County Precincts 22A and 22B and Maricopa Precinct Apache: One Inspector,Four Judges,Four Clerks,One Marshal,One Alternate. Pinal County Precincts 22C and 22F:One Inspector,Four Judges,Four Clerks,One Marshal,One Alternate. Pinal County Precincts 22D and 22E:One Inspector,Two Judges,Two Clerks,One Alternate. Absentee Board Officials (all precincts):One Inspector,Two Judges. I f any election shall fail to appear,the City Clerk shall appoint a qualified substitute. Members of the Election Board shall be compensated in the following manner: Inspectors:$75.00 per day (Except Absentee Board Inspector Judges,Clerks,Marshals and Alternates:$70.00 per day (Except Absentee Board Appointees) Absentee Board Inspector:$35.00 per day Absentee Board Judges:$30.00 per day Attendance at mandatory training session for all board positions:$5.00 Attendance at Logic and Accuracy Test for certain positions:$5.00 Indian Translator as required by the Federal Voting Rights Act of 1964: $5.00 per hour plus 204 per mile travel reimbursement. SECTION IV RECORDATION OF ELECTORS'CHOICE Voting shall be recorded by punch ballot card.The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to cause the printing of punch ballots for the Primary Election as set forth in Title 16 of the Arizona Revised Statutes.
