A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA,SUPPORTING THE CITY OF SIERRA VISTA,ARIZONA,IN KEEPING THE
INFORMATION SYSTEMS COMMAND AT FORT HUACHUCA,ARIZONA.
WHEREAS the Base Closure and Realignment Commission has recommended the
relocation of the Information Systems Command from Fort Huachuca,Arizona,
to Fort Devens,Massachusetts,and,
WHEREAS,such an action would impact negatively the economy of the State
of Arizona to the extent of $500 million annually at a time when the
State of Arizona is experiencing a downturn in its economy,and,
WHEREAS,Arizona state and local governments would lose more than $30
million revenues by this relocation action,and,
WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction maintains that current inputs to
the Arizona economy are essential to weathering current statewide economic
conditions,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,that the Mayor and Council of the City of Apache
Junction,Arizona,supports keeping the Information Systems Command at
Fort Huachuca,Arizona,in order to help stabilize the Arizona economy.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache
Junction,Arizona,this 18TH day of APRIL ,1989.
