A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA,SUPPORTING THE MEMBERS OF THE THIRTY-NINTH ARIZONA STATE LEGISLATURE IN
THEIR EFFORTS TO RESTRICT SOCIAL GAMBLING ACTIVITIES.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA,AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS,social gambing activites as currently operating throughout Arizona are
not as intended by the original legislation which authorized such
activities; and
WHEREAS,social gambling activities which allow for public card playing in bars
and restaurants detract from the purpose of the original State
legislation; and
WHEREAS,public card playing for money may lead to less desireable activities
within our community;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of
Apache Junction,Arizona that social gambling in the form of public card playing
and as currently permitted under an interpretation of Arizona State law is an
undesireable activity within our community;and we urge all members of the
Thirty-ninth Arizona State Legislature to act in an expeditious manner to adopt
legislation regulating card playing in public places.
