A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA APPROVING GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT GPA-90-01,A CITY -INITIATED PROPOSAL
TO PERMIT AMENDING THE GENERAL PLAN TO NO MORE THAN TWICE A YEAR.
WHEREAS,the Apache Junction City Council did on June 16,1987 adopt the
1987 Apache Junction General Plan;and
WHEREAS,the Apache Junction Planning and Zoning Commission held a public
hearing regarding GPA-90-01 on July 10,1990 and on July 24,1990;and
WHEREAS,the Apache Junction Planning and Zoning Commission recommended
approval of GPA-90-01 subject to stipulations;and
WHEREAS,this Council has complied with the requirements for the
preparation and adoption of a General Plan amendment pursuant to A.R.S.
Section 9-461.05;and
WHEREAS,this Council finds that the action taken on this General Plan
Amendment is necessary for sound and orderly community development,for
preservation of community values and for the promotion of the general health,
safety,convenience,and welfare of the citizens of the Apache Junction
community;and
WHEREAS,this Council has considered the findings of fact given in
Section D.1.6 of the 1987 Apache Junction General Plan and finds them to be
applicable primarily to changes in the Land Use Plan and inapplicable to the
procedural change proposed by GPA-90-01.
NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE Mayor and City Council of the City of
Apache Junction,Arizona,that:
GPA-90-01,a City Council -initiated General Plan amendment proposing the
concurrent processing of general plan amendments and companion rezonings and
changing that provision which appears on page 111 of the 1987 General Plan:
"However,review of such requests shall be undertaken only on a
regularly scheduled basis,which shall occur only two times per year at six-
month intervals."
Be approved and adopted subject to the following stipulations:

1.That amendments to the General Plan be limited to twice a year and that
they be considered at six-month intervals.
2.That the processing costs be borne by the applicant.
