HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 91-34RESOLUTION NO.91-34 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,REQUESTING THE PINAL COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO BUILD AND OPERATE A TRANSFER STATION. WHEREAS,the Pinal County landfill located west of Tomahawk Road and south of Baseline Avenue is,or soon will be,at capacity;and WHEREAS,Pinal County has historically owned and operated the referenced landfill to service the unincorporated areas of Pinal County and the City of Apache Junction as well as certain unincorporated areas of Maricopa County and the City of Mesa west of Meridian Drive;and WHEREAS,small independently -operated transfer stations and duplication of effort results in higher cost to the user;and WHEREAS,the cost of waste disposal should be borne by those using the service;and WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction would,within the limits of law, encourage that waste generated within the Apache Junction city limits be disposed of through a Pinal County waste transfer facility; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction, Arizona,that the Pinal County Board of Supervisors be requested to build and operate a transfer station in the vicinity of their present landfill and that the cost and operation of the facility be funded through appropriate user fees.
