HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 91-50RESOLUTION NO.91-50 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA,STATING THE COUNCIL'S INTENT TO IMPLEMENT REASONABLY AVAILABLE CONTROL MEASURES (RACM'S)TO REDUCE THE LEVELS OF PARTICULATE (PM10) POLLUTION. WHEREAS,the Maricopa County Urbanized Area regularly experiences air pollution from small particulate matter at levels above standards set by the US Environmental Protection Agency;and WHEREAS,the Pinal County portion of Phoenix PM10 Nonattainment Area does not experience such air pollution levels;and WHEREAS,the Maricopa Association of Governments is preparing the MAG 1991 Particulate Plan for PM10 which affects the Apache Junction area;and WHEREAS,it has been determined that portions of Pinal County,together with the City of Apache Junction,would benefit by being separated from the Phoenix PM10 Nonattainment Area. NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction as follows: Section 1.That the City Council adopts the State Implementation Plan for the Pinal County Portion of the Phoenix PM10 Nonattainment Area herewith attached as Exhibit A. Section 2.That the City Council agrees to proceed with a good faith effort to implement reasonably available control measures identified in Exhibit B. Section 3.That the City Council commits to implement the measures as expeditiously practicable prior to December 10,1993,with the funding sources identified.Recognizing that available funding may depend upon programs or processes of various county,state and federal agencies. Section 4.That the City Council agrees to consider modifications of funding or actions toward implementation,i f necessary.Additional measures,as appropriate,may be considered during the continuing planning process i f implementation does not achieve progress in reducing emissions,as required by the Clean Air Act.
