HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 92-32RESOLUTION NO.92-32 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,PROPOSING AN EXTENSION OF THE ALTERNATIVE LOCAL EXPENDITURE LIMITATION FOR THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION. WHEREAS,the Arizona State Constitution permits the submission to the voters of a city or town of an alternative local expenditure limitation;and WHEREAS, the voters of the City of Apache Junction in 1989 adopted an Alternative Expenditure Limitation -Home Rule Option;and WHEREAS,the Apache Junction City Council,after two public hearings,has determined that an extension of the Local Alternative Expenditure Limitation is necessary for the City of Apache Junction. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction that the following Alternative Local Expenditure Limitation be submitted to the voters of the City of Apache Junction for approval or rejection at the regular city primary election to be held March 9,1993 and that the extension of the Local Alternative Expenditure Limitation shall be numbered as Proposition 100 to read as follows: "THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION SHALL ANNUALLY,AS PART OF THE ANNUAL BUDGET,ADOPT AN EXPENDITURE LIMITATION TO GOVERN THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING SUCH ADOPTION.THE EXPENDITURE LIMITATIONS SHALL BE ADOPTED EACH YEAR AFTER TWO PUBLIC HEARINGS AT WHICH THE CITIZENS OF APACHE JUNCTION MAY COMMENT ON THE PROPOSED EXPENDITURE LIMITATIONS. NO EXPENDITURES SHALL BE MADE IN VIOLATION OF SUCH CITY ORDINANCE, NOR SHALL ANY PROPOSED EXPENDITURES EXCEED THE REVENUES AVAILABLE FOR EXPENDITURE IN THAT FISCAL YEAR PLUS ANY CARRY-OVERS FROM PRECEDING FISCAL YEARS."
