A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA,SUPPORTING THE INCLUSION OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION WITHIN
THE MARICOPA ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS (MAG)DESIGNATED METROPOLITAN AREA
BOUNDARY.
WHEREAS,with the passage of Section 1024 of the Intermodal Surface
Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA),Metropolitan Planning Organizations may
adjust their 1990 Census Bureau designated Metropolitan Area Boundaries,and;
WHEREAS,Apache Junction meets several reasons to be included into the
Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG)Metropolitan Area Boundary such as:
maintaining continuity of routes and encompassing fringe areas that are urban in
character,and;
WHEREAS, the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA)allows
the expenditure of both Surface Transportation Program (STP)and Congestion
Mitigation Air Quality)CMAQ improvement funds anywhere within the designated
Metropolitan Area Boundary.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City
of Apache Junction, Arizona, that the portion of Apache Junction within the Urban
Area Boundary as defined by the 1990 Census,be included within the Maricopa
Association of Governments (MAG)Metropolitan Area Boundary.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA,THIS 16TH DAY OF JUNE ,1992.
