A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION SUPPORTING THE CENTRAL ARIZONA ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS
AND ITS PURSUIT OF BEING DESIGNATED AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT
ENCOMPASSING GILA AND PINAL COUNTIES.
WHEREAS,on March 2,1993 the City Council of Apache Junction received a
presentation on the formation and viability of Economic Development Districts by
representatives of the Arizona Department of Commerce and the Central Arizona
Association of Governments,and
WHEREAS, the Regional Council of the Central Arizona Association of Governments,
met on March 17,1993 and decided that the Central Arizona Association of
Governments would be the vehicle used for the formation of such Economic
Development District and directed the membership to ascertain the support of the
individual communities to the formation of such Economic Development District.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City of
Apache Junction support the formation of an Economic Development District
composed of Gila and Pinal Counties as represented by the Central Arizona
Association of Governments.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the City Council is hereby authorized
and directed to send one certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable J.
Fife Symington, Governor of the State of Arizona; to Maxine L.Leather, Executive
Director of Central Arizona Association of Governments;and to the Boards of
Supervisors of the Counties of Gila and Pinal.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Apache Junction this
4th day of May ,1993.
