HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 93-21RESOLUTION NO.93-21 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, OPPOSING THE CLOSURE OF EXIT 199 ON WESTBOUND US 60 (SUPERSTITION FREEWAY). WHEREAS,Pinal County and the Arizona Department of Transportation are contemplating a land exchange which could affect the freeway access and egress in the vicinity of Superstition Freeway (US 60) and Goldfield Road,particularly exit ramp 199;and WHEREAS,the design of this portion of the freeway was the subject of numerous public hearings as well as Resolutions of the City of Apache Junction including Resolutions Nos.87-03,87-24,and 87-47;and WHEREAS,the design of the interchange at U.S.60 and Goldfield Road, including exit ramp 199,will significantly impact the economics of the Apache Junction Community;and WHEREAS,the economic vitality of the community of Apache Junction is mirrored in the prosperity of our businesses;and WHEREAS, business prosperity is directly related to customer accessibility; and WHEREAS, Arizona Department of Transportation did take into consideration accessibility in the design and construction of the westbound exit ramp of the Superstition Freeway near the Goldfield Road interchange at the request of the City of Apache Junction; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction, Arizona,that the City of Apache Junction hereby opposes the permanent closing or abandonment by either the State of Arizona or Pinal County of Exit 199 for westbound traffic using US Highway 60 (Superstition Freeway).
