A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA,CONCERNING ITS DECISION TO WITHDRAW FROM THE
WILLIAMS AIR FORCE BASE IGA GROUP AND EXPRESSING ITS SUPPORT FOR THE
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE REUSE PLAN.
WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction has been an active member of the
Williams Air Force Base IGA group since it was formed and has participated in
many of the planning meetings and provided financial support;and
WHEREAS,Williams Air Force Base is located in Maricopa County
approximately 13 miles from Apache Junction,which is in Pinal County;and
WHEREAS,because of the geographical location the economic benefits of
implementing the Williams Air Force Base reuse plan are less significant for the
City of Apache Junction as compared to the other IGA members;and
WHEREAS,the financial requirements for retaining membership in the IGA
appear to be a heavy burden to the City of Apache Junction,
NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of
Apache Junction,Arizona,that the City hereby withdraws its membership in the
Williams Air Force Base IGA group;and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache
Junction, Arizona, that the City of Apache Junction retains its membership on the
Governor's Redevelopment Partnership Committee for the reuse of Williams Air
Force Base and reaffirms its strong support for the successful reuse of Williams
Air Force Base.
