A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION SUPPORTING THE SUBMISSION OF AN
APPLICATION FOR 1994 PINAL COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAM FUNDING
WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction is desirous of promoting and
undertaking economic development activities that benefit all the citizens of
Apache Junction;and
WHEREAS,Pinal County is administering an Economic Development Grant
Program to support economic activities throughout Pinal County;and
WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction completed a Short Term Economic
Development Plan in June 1994 that identified projects which can be undertaken
in a one-to three-year period that have the potential to generate local and
county sales tax revenues above the cost of implementing those projects;and
WHEREAS,in the Short Term Economic Development Plan,the most favorably
recommended proposal was prepared by the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce that
suggests very specific investment and marketing activities which will expand and
broaden the tourism and visitor industry in the Apache Junction area and that
will extend its benefits to other communities throughout Pinal County and to
Pinal County itself.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mayor and City Council of the City
of Apache Junction fully support and convey their support for an application to
the Pinal County Economic Development Program for funding of investment and
marketing activities that will expand and broaden the tourism and winter visitor
industry as identified in the Short Term Economic Development Plan and that will
extend beyond any one jurisdictional boundary and will have a far-reaching
positive economic impact for the citizens of Apache Junction and the surrounding
area,for Pinal County,and for other Pinal County Communities along the "Copper
Trail."
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL THIS 2ND DAY OF AUGUST,1994.
