A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,ARIZONA,SUPPORTING THE GENERAL ELECTION BALLOT
PROPOSITION 101 AMENDING THE ARIZONA CONSTITUTION AND RESTORING THE
STATE'S AUTHORITY TO MAKE LAND EXCHANGES WITH FEDERAL,STATE AND
LOCAL GOVERNMENTS,WITH INDIAN TRIBES,AND WITH PRIVATE LANDOWNERS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA,AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS,a ballot measure proposing to amend the Arizona Constitution regarding
state land exchanges will be on the November 8,1994 General Election Ballot;and
WHEREAS,this measure entitled Proposition 101 would restore the state's
authority to make land exchanges with federal,state and local governments, with
Indian Tribes,and with private landowners;and
WHEREAS,passage of this proposition will result in educational,environmental
and economic benefits for the state as well as cost savings for Arizona
taxpayers;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of
Apache Junction, Arizona, that we support the passage of Proposition 101 and urge
state voters to vote to allow the State Constitution to be amended to incorporate
authority for the exchange of state trust land.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA,THIS 4TH DAY OF OCTOBER ,1994.
