A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION PLEDGING MATCHING FUNDS IN SUPPORT OF
A TREE PLANTING APPLICATION TO THE 1995-96 "NATURAL
RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM"
WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction desires to provide leadership in
providing a high quality,tree rich community environment for its citizens and
its many visitors,and
WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction has worked in harmony with local
organizations such as the Apache Junction Main Street Program,Inc.and Apache
Junction Clean and Beautiful,Inc. to develop green space plans and concepts that
will enhance the community,and
WHEREAS,the Arizona State Land Department and the United States Small
Business Administration has made available a cost sharing grant opportunity to
the City of Apache Junction for the following purposes:to plant trees on land
controlled by State or local government;to utilize small business contractors
or concerns in connection with tree planting projects;to encourage and develop
the capacity of small business concerns to utilize this important segment of the
economy;and to permit rapid increase in employment opportunities in local
communities.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mayor and City Council of the City
of Apache Junction fully support an application to the 1995-96 initiative titled
"The Natural Resources Development Program"offered by the Arizona State Land
Department and the United States Small Business Administration and that the City
of Apache Junction has and will make available all requisite matching funds in
order to complete the tree planting projects under consideration.

JUNCTION,ARIZONA,THIS 20TH DAY OF DECEMBER,1994.
