RESOLUTION NO.95-22
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION
ENDORSING RENEWAL OF THE PINAL COUNTY ENTERPRISE ZONE AND COMMITTING
TO CONTINUED PARTICIPATION ON THE PINAL COUNTY ENTERPRISE ZONE
COMMISSION.
WHEREAS,the primary goal of the Arizona Enterprise Zone Program is to
improve the economies of designated enterprise zones by enhancing opportunities
for private investment in these areas through the provision of state business
income tax credits,resulting in the creation and/or retention of local
employment opportunities;and
WHEREAS,the Pinal County Enterprise Zone was designated by the Arizona
Department of Commerce on June 1,1991 through the cooperative efforts of Pinal
County and its communities in response to concerns about high unemployment and
poverty,and the desire to enhance and strengthen local efforts to promote
economic development and diversification;and
and
WHEREAS, this Enterprise Zone designation terminates on December 31,1995;
WHEREAS, Sections 41-1522 and 41-1524, Arizona Revised Statutes, authorize
the local Enterprise Zone Commission,consisting of representatives of each
member entity, to apply for renewal of the designation as an Enterprise Zone; and
WHEREAS,the Pinal County Enterprise Zone Commission believes that
continuation of the countywide,cooperative Enterprise Zone Program should be
pursued.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the City of
Apache Junction desire to continue the Enterprise Zone designation,endorse the
application to the Arizona Department of Commerce requesting renewal of said
designation, and commit to continued participation on the Pinal County Enterprise
Zone Commission.
