A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION,PINAL AND MARICOPA COUNTIES,ARIZONA,DECLARING AND
ADOPTING THE RESULTS OF THE PRIMARY ELECTION HELD ON MARCH 11, 1997.
WHEREAS, theCityof Apache Junction, Pinal and Maricopa Counties, Arizona,
did hold a primary election on the 11th day of March,1997,for the
nomination/election of a Mayor and three Councilmembers;and a proposition for
the continuation of one Local Alternative Expenditure Limitation (home rule
option);and
WHEREAS,the election returns have been presented to and have been
canvassed by the city council .
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of
Apache Junction,Pinal and Maricopa Counties,Arizona,as follows:
SECTION 1.That the total number of ballots cast at said primary election,
s shown by the poll lists,was 1,730.
SECTION 2.That the number of ballots to be verified was 17,and that
voters found to be ineligible were 4.
SECTION 3.That the votes cast for the candidates for Mayor were as
follows:
Coleman,Douglas 1145
Perkins,Jean 522
SECTION 4.That the votes cast for the candidates for Councilmember were:
Barker,Robin 501
Eck,Robert Jr."R.E."1090
Fisher,Elliot 403
Insalaco,John S.883
McClain,Virginia 977
Michaels,Jerry 396
Richmond,Pat 507
SECTION 5.That the votes cast for the proposition for the continuation
of the Local Alternative Expenditure Limitation (home rule option) were:
For the Proposition 1340
Against the Proposition 320
SECTION 6.That it i s hereby found,determined and declared of record,
that the following four candidates did receive more than one-half of the total
number of valid votes cast and are hereby issued certificates of election:
Mayor
Coleman,Douglas
Council member
Eck,Robert Jr."R.E."
Insalaco,John S.
McClain,Virginia
SECTION 7.This resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately
upon its adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY the Mayor and Council of the City of Apache Junction,
Arizona,this 18TH day of MARCH ,1997.
