HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 99-19RESOLUTION NO.99-19 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,SUPPORTING THE MEMBERS OF JAE LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND COMMITTEE OF THE GROWINgSMARTER COMMISSION OF THE STATE OF ARIZONA IN THEIR SUPPORT FOR THE REVITALIZATION OF FULL, EQUITABLE AND PERMANENT FUNDING FOR CURRENT AND FUTURE STATE AND FEDERAL LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND PROGRAMS. WHEREAS,the Land and Water Conservation Fund was created to protect local,state and national parks,urban and rural open space,wilderness areas, wetlands,refuges,playgrounds and preserve habitat;and WHEREAS,the Land and Water Conservation Fund has established a history of success in the State of Arizona with the acquisition of parks and the enhancement of recreation projects;and WHEREAS,the Land and Water Conservation Fund must be revitalized through state and federal legislation. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of Apache Junction, Arizona,that we strongly support full, equitable and permanent funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund to include an equitable allocation of funding for both state and federal components;legislation that will assure permanent and automatic funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund;legislation that is consistent with the goals of protecting and restoring our natural systems,native habitats,and historic,cultural and public recreation resources and State determination of state -side Land and Water Conservation Fund funding priorities.
