HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 00-22RESOLUTION NO.00-22 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,APPROVING THE REDEVELOPMENT IMPROVEMENT PLAN FOR THE MERIDIAN REDEVELOPMENT AREA AND FINDING THAT SUCH PLAN IS FEASIBLE AND IN CONFORMITY WITH THE GENERAL PLAN FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION WHEREAS,on May 16,2000,the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction (hereinafter "Council")adopted Resolution 00-09, wherein findings were made as to the existence of a certain area within the corporate boundaries of the City qualified for redevelopment;and WHEREAS,this Area was named the "Meridian Redevelopment Area",and an improvement plan for the Area was forwarded to the Planning and Zoning Commission for comment as to whether the plan is consistent with state law and the City's 1999 General Plan,which was approved by Council on November 2,1999;and WHEREAS,Arizona Revised Statutes Annotated (hereinafter "A.R.S.") §36-1479(D)requires that certain findings be made by the local governing body of the municipality before approval of a redevelopment plan;and WHEREAS,The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Apache Junction reviewed such Redevelopment Plan for the Meridian Redevelopment Area on June 27,2000 and forwarded its written recommendations to the Council pursuant to A.R.S.§36-1479(D);and WHEREAS,on September 5,2000,after proper and timely publication of public notice,the Council held a public hearing affording all interested parties at such hearing a reasonable opportunity to express their views respecting the Redevelopment Plan for the Meridian Redevelopment Area;and WHEREAS,the legal description and map of the Area are set forth in Exhibit A and Exhibit B respectively as attached hereto;and WHEREAS,the Council finds that the "Meridian Redevelopment Area Improvement Plan"dated May 2000 is feasible and in conformity with the General Plan for development in the City of Apache Junction. RESOLUTION NO.00-22 PAGE 1 OF 4 NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA.AS FOLLOWS: Section I :That the Meridian Redevelopment Area Improvement Plan be approved and adopted. PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,THIS 5TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER .2000. SIGNED AND ATTESTED TO THIS 5TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER,2000.
