A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA,APPROVING GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT GPA-00-01,A REQUEST TO REDESIGNATE AN
16.536 SQUARE -FOOT PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF IRONWOOD DRIVE AND
16TH AVENUE FROM MEDIUM DENSITY RESIDENTIAL (RANGE 1 TO 6 DWELLING UNITS PER
ACRE,TARGET DENSITY 3.5 DWELLING UNITS PER ACRE)TO EMPLOYMENT/RETAIL.
WHEREAS.The Mayor and City Council,on November 2,1999,adopted the City
of Apache Junction General Plan;and
WHEREAS.this proposed amendment is necessary because the proposed
development of the site constitutes an intensification of use,considering impact
and acreage as stated in Section B.3 of Chapter IV.Implementation of the Apache
Junction General Plan;and
WHEREAS.the requested rezoning of the site conflicts with Section C.Land
Use Decision Keys of Chapter IV.Implementation,of the Apache Junction General
Plan,which states commercial uses are preferred on arterial roadway corners
consistent with the existing development pattern:and
WHEREAS.the Apache Junction Planning and Zoning Commission held a public
hearing regarding GPA-00-01 on September 26,2000:and
WHEREAS.the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of GPA-00-
01 by a vote of 4 to 3:and
WHEREAS.the Mayor and City Council has complied with the requirements for
the preparation and adoption of a General Plan Amendment pursuant to Arizona
Revised Statutes Annotated §9-461.06;and
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,THAT:
GPA 00-01,a General Plan Amendment request to redesignate an 16,536
square -foot property located at the northwest corner of Ironwood Drive and 16th
Avenue from Medium Density Residential (Range 1 to 6 dwelling units per acre.
Target Density 3.5 dwelling units per acre)to Employment/Retail,be approved and
adopted for the following described property:

19 of Maps.page 62,Pinal County,Arizona.
