A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION FOR FY 2001 STATE COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS;AND CERTIFYING THAT THE APPLICATION:1)MEETS THE
COMMUNITY'S IDENTIFIED HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT NEEDS;AND 2)IS
NECESSARY FOR IMPLEMENTION AND COMPLETION OF THE ACTIVITIES OUTLINED IN THE
APPLICATION.
WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction is desirous of undertaking community
development activities;and
WHEREAS,the State of Arizona is administering the Community Development Block
Grant ("CDBG")Program;and
WHEREAS,the State CDBG Program requires that CDBG funds requested address one of
the three congressionally -mandated national objectives;and
WHEREAS,the activities within this application address the community's
identified housing and community development needs,including the needs of low-
and moderate -income persons;and
WHEREAS,a grantee of State CDBG funds is required to comply with the program
guidelines and federal statutes and regulations.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY the Mayor and City Council of the City of
Apache Junction as follows:
SECTION 1:
Authorize application to be submitted to the State of Arizona Department of
Commerce for Fiscal Year 2001 CDBG funds,and authorize the Mayor to sign
application,contract and grant documents for receipt and use of CDBG funds for:
1)Expansion of the Apache Junction Reach Out Food Bank($50,000);and
2)Support of the Housing Rehabilitation Program administered by the City
Development Services Department($180,000)to include:housing

rehabilitation services($130,000);home accessibility services($25,000):
and emergency home repair services($25,000):and
3)Support of the Apache Junction Chapter of Habitat for Humanity($33,000):
and
4)Grant administration ($18,844)to include reimbursement of
administrative costs to the City($14,844)and technical assistance fees
payable to the Central Arizona Association of Governments($4,000).
SECTION 2:
Authorize the Mayor to take any and all actions necessary to implement and
complete the activities submitted in the application.
SECTION 3:
The application for State CDBG funds:1)furthers the needs under state
guidelines for low- and moderate -income persons:2)aids in the prevention or
elimination of slum and blight:and/or 3)addresses an urgent need which poses a
threat to health.
SECTION 4:
The City of Apache Junction shall comply with all State CDBG Program guidelines,
federal statutes and regulations applicable to the State CDBG Program and
certifications contained in the application.
