HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 01-19RESOLUTION NO.01-19 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA,AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR PARTICIPATION IN ITS FISCAL YEAR 2002 LOCAL TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE FUND II PROGRAM. WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction is desirous of meeting the needs of its senior citizen population;and WHEREAS,Mesa Senior Services,Inc.,which manages the Apache Junction Senior Center,has requested assistance from the City in meeting the transportation needs of senior citizens residing within the City limits;and WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction is desirous of meeting the transportation needs of its citizens;and WHEREAS,the City's General Plan states that the City will address regional transportation and traffic circulation issues during the period 2002-2006;and WHEREAS,the City has supported the Transit Implementation Study as the means to identify and address transit and transportation issues that are crucial to the implementation of transit in the City:and WHEREAS,pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes Section 28-8101,et seq.,the Arizona Department of Transportation administers the Local Transportation Assistance Fund (hereinafter "LTAF")II Program;and WHEREAS,the activities within this grant address identified community needs;and WHEREAS,a grantee of State LTAF II funds is required to comply with the program guidelines,federal statutes and regulations. RESOLUTION NO.01-19 PAGE 1 OF 2 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED THAT: 1)the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction authorize application to be made to the State of Arizona.Department of Transportation for FY 2002 LTAF II funds:and 2)the City Manager and Finance Director are authorized to execute an application for receipt and use of these funds for the development of a transit implementation plan:and 3)if approved by the State,the City Manager,or designated representative thereof,is authorized to take all actions necessary to implement and complete the activities submitted in the grant:and 4)this application for State LTAF II funds meets the program requirements for addressing local transit issues:and 5)the City of Apache Junction shall comply with all LTAF II guidelines, federal statutes and regulations applicable to the LTAF II Program.
