A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,
ARIZONA,AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION FOR THE ARIZONA
DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE GROWING SMARTER PLANNING GRANT PROGRAM TO PROVIDE
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR A GENERAL PLAN UPDATE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE GROWING
SMARTER STATUTES.
WHEREAS,the Growing Smarter and Growing Smarter Plus legislation adopted by
the Arizona State Legislature and codified in Arizona Revised Statutes
annotated § 9-461.05 et seq.,requires revisions to the General Plan with a
mandated completion date of December 31.2002:and
WHEREAS.the Arizona Department of Commerce has established and solicited
applications for the Growing Smarter Planning Grant Program to assist local
governments with the statutory requirements of the Growing Smarter and Growing
Smarter Plus Acts:and
WHEREAS.the City Council is committed to revising the General Plan to comply
with the Growing Smarter/Plus legislation and to furthering community goals
and desires.
NOW.THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION HEREBY:
1)Approves the filing of an application for a $ 20,000.00 Growing Smarter
Planning Grant:and
2)Agrees to comply with all appropriate procedures,guidelines,and
requirements established by the Arizona Department of Commerce as part
of the application process:and
3)Certifies that the City has matching funds in the amount of $ 5,000.00
from the General Fund and $ 9.058.00 obligated through in -kind donations
of staff labor or materials.
