A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION
OF AN APPLICATION FOR FY 2005 STATE COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT REGIONAL ACCOUNT (CDBG RA)
FUNDS AND CERTIFYING THAT THE APPLICATION:(1)MEETS
THE COMMUNITY'S IDENTIFIED HOUSING AND COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT NEEDS;AND (2)IS NECESSARY FOR
IMPLEMENTATION AND COMPLETION OF THE ACTIVITIES
OUTLINED IN THE APPLICATION.
WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction i s desirous of
undertaking community development activities;and
WHEREAS,the State of Arizona i s administering the Community
Development Block Grant ("CDBG")Program;and
WHEREAS,the State CDBG Program requires that the requested
CDBG funds address one of the three congressionally -mandated
national objectives;and
WHEREAS,the activities within this application address the
community's identified housing and community development needs,
including the needs of low-and moderate -income persons;and
WHEREAS,a grantee of State CDBG funds i s required to comply
with the Program guidelines and federal statutes and regulations;
and
WHEREAS,on February 15,2005 the Apache Junction City
Council adopted Resolution No.05-12 authorizing the submission
of both a FY 2005 State Community Development Block Grant
Regional Account ("CDBG RA")application and a FY 2005 State
Special Projects ("SSP")application;and
WHEREAS,on May 3,2005 the Apache Junction City Council was
informed by the Director of the Arizona Community Development
Block Grant Program that the project to be submitted i n the FY
2005 SSP application was not an eligible project.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council
of the City of Apache Junction as follows:
SECTION 1:
Staff i s authorized •to submit an application to the State of
Arizona Department of Housing for Fiscal Year 2005 CDBG RA and
funds,and the Mayor i s authorized to sign the application,
contracts and grant documents for receipt and use of CDBG funds
for:

1)The purchase of 35 hand held 800 MHz radio units and 20
dash mounted 800 MHz radio units for the Apache Junction
Police Department in the amount of $254,299.
2)Costs related to the administration of this project i n
the amount of $55,822.
SFC_TION 2:
The Mayor i s authorized to take any and all actions necessary to
implement and complete the activities submitted in the .
application.
SECTION 3:
The application for State CDBG RA funds furthers the needs under
State guidelines for low-and moderate -income persons.
SECTION 4:
The City of Apache Junction shall comply with all State CDBG RA
and SSP Program guidelines,federal statutes and regulations
applicable to the State CDBG Program and certifications contained
in the applications.
SECTION 5:
This Resolution shall supercede Resolution No.05-12.

APACHE JUNCTION THIS 17TH DAY OF MAY 2005.
