A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT WITH APACHE
JUNCTION IMPORTS, INC., AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Apache Junction Imports, Inc.("Apache Junction
Imports"), desires to operate a KIA automobile dealership in the
city limits of Apache Junction; and
WHEREAS, Apache Junction Imports has selected approximately
8.25 acres located at the northwest corner of Goldfield Road and
of U.S. 60 for the dealership location; and
WHEREAS, water and sewer lines need to be extended to this
property for development to take place; and
WHEREAS, Apache Junction Imports is willing to pay for the
water and sewer line extension and connection fees to facilitate
development; and
WHEREAS, extension of the water and sewer service to this
location will enhance the economic development potential for Old
West Highway south from Tomahawk to below U.S. 60; and
WHEREAS, the City is in need of a catalyst development in
this area; and
WHEREAS, the City and Apache Junction Imports have been in
serious discussions on appropriate economic development
incentives in exchange for locating in the City to sell
automobiles, which the City may offer pursuant to A.R.S..5 9-
500.11; and
WHEREAS, this commercial activity will produce significant
sales tax revenues for the City and as a result of the extended
water and sewer lines, will result in new jobs, and will spawn
other commercial developments along the Old West
Highway/Goldfield Road corridor.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA,AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I AUTHORIZATION AND APPROVAL OF DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT
The Mayor and City Council hereby approve an economic incentive-
based development agreement with Apache Junction Imports, and the
Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the Agreement as approved
as to form by the City Attorney on or before August 11, 2005.
SECTION I DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
The immediate operation of the provisions of this Resolution is
necessary for the Immediate preservation of the peace, health, or
safety of the City of Apache Junction; and that an emergency is
declared to exist; and that this Resolution shall be in full
force and effect from its passage, adoption and approval by the
Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction.
