A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, RATIFYING CITY OF APACHE
JUNCTION MEMBERSHIP IN THE CENTRAL ARIZONA ASSOCIATION
OF GOVERNMENTS.
WHEREAS, the county, city and town governments located within
Pinal and Gila Counties have joined together in the Central Arizona
Association of Governments ("CAAG") in order to provide a forum for
the study and discussion of regional issues of mutual concern and
interest and to seek resolutions for such issues through the
development of policies and recommendations; and
WHEREAS, the cities, towns, Pinal and Gila Counties have joint
and interrelated problems which require mutual action in order to
ensure orderly growth and development; and
WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction was incorporated on
November 24, 1978 and the first interaction between the City of
Apache Junction and representatives of CAAG occurred at the City
Council meeting of December 13, 1978; and
WHEREAS, the City of Apache Junction has actively participated
as a member of CAAG since 1978 as shown by its application for
three Comprehensive Employment Training Act ("CETA") positions on
December 20, 1978 and subsequent acceptance and approval of funding
for these positions on January 10, 1979; and
WHEREAS,the City has continuously been a voting eligible
governmental unit ("EGU") pursuant to Section IV(A)(1) of the CAAG
Bylaws demonstrated by payment of its membership dues; and
WHEREAS,the City of Apache Junction wishes to officially
ratify its membership status in CAAG as requested by CAAG staff.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, AS FOLLOWS:
That the City of Apache Junction hereby ratifies its voting
membership and participation status in CAAG, said membership being
a benefit to the City and its citizens as a whole.
