HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 06-35RESOLUTION NO. 06-35 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, PERTAINING TO THE ACCEPTANCE OF GILA RIVER INDIAN COMMUNITY STATE- SHARED GAMING REVENUES GRANT FOR THE PURPOSE TO OBTAIN AN ELECTRONIC FINGERPRINTING SYSTEM LIVE SCAN FOR PUBLIC SAFETY. WHEREAS,in 2002,Proposition 202 authorized new gaming compacts between the State of Arizona and the Arizona Indian Tribes which included sharing of gaming revenues.The Gila River Indian Community State Shared Revenue Program,makes distributions to cities,towns,or counties for government services that benefit the general public (including public safety),mitigates the impacts of gaming,or promotes commerce and economic development; and WHEREAS, on June 7,2006 the Gila River Indian Community Council approved the application for a grant in the amount of $77,958 to the City of Apache Junction for the Electronic Fingerprinting System for Public Safety; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council on April 4, 2006 held a public hearing to consider a grant application to the Gila River Indian Community for Proposition 202 funds. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, AS FOLLOWS: 1)Staff is authorized to purchase Live Scan Automated Fingerprinting Systems including camera equipment needed for booking photos in the amount of $77,958.00. RESOLUTION NO. 06-35 PAGE 1 OF 2 2)The City may expend up to $24,288 to match the funds provided by the Gila River Indian Community,to be appropriated from the Municipal Court and Public Safety Department Fiscal Year 2006-2007 budget.
