A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, APPROVING
SUBMISSION OF A PROPOSAL FOR EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL
JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT ("JAG")PROGRAM (FY
2009)FUNDS; AND APPOINTING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC
SAFETY/POLICE CHIEF TO CONDUCT ALL NEGOTIATIONS AND
EXECUTE ALL RELATED DOCUMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE
SUBMITTAL.
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department Of Justice, Office of
Justice Programs Bureau of Justice Assistance is seeking
applications for funding under the Edward Byrne Memorial
Justice Assistance ("JAG") Program from state, local, and
tribal agencies for projects relating to the prevention or
reduction of crime and violence ; and
WHEREAS, the City of Apache Junction of Arizona,
through its Department of Public Safety, is interested in
submitting a project to be considered for funding in the
form of reimbursable grants from the U.S. Department Of
Justice, Office of Justice Programs Bureau of Justice
Assistance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City
Council of the City of Apache Junction, Arizona, as
follows:
1) That approval of the submission of the proposal for
the project under consideration is granted.
2) That the Apache Junction Director of Public
Safety/Police Chief, is appointed agent for the City
of Apache Junction, to conduct all negotiations and to
execute and submit all documents and any other
necessary or critical instruments in connection with
such submittal.
3) The Apache Junction Director of Public Safety/Police
Chief is authorized to sign an application for receipt
and use of these funds in an amount of $18,020 for the
acquisition of three (3) Mobile Data Terminals.
