A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,ESTABLISHING THE NUMBER
OF POLICE DEPARTMENT VOLUNTEERS ELIGIBLE FOR WORKERS'
COMPENSATION INSURANCE;ESTABLISHING A SALARY
EQUIVALENT FOR PURPOSE OF COMPUTING A WORKERS'
COMPENSATION INSURANCE PREMIUM AND COMPENSATION
BENEFITS FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT VOLUNTEERS;AND
REPEALING CONFLICTING PROVISIONS.
WHEREAS,pursuant to A.R.S.§ 23-901.06,volunteer workers
of any city may be deemed to be employees and entitled to
Workers'Compensation benefits upon the passage of a resolution
or ordinance by any city wherein the nature and type of
volunteer work is described and the number of workers to be
entitled to such benefits is set forth therein; and
WHEREAS,the basis for computing compensation benefits and
premium payments under the same statute is Four Hundred Dollars
and No Cents ($400.00)per month divided by 100 times an
industry -wide multiplier determined by the Arizona Municipal
Risk Retention Pool; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No.06-30 passed by the Mayor and City
Council on July 18,2006 set forth such authority for up to 45
volunteers; and
WHEREAS,since 2006,the demands on the Police Department
have increased,wherein more volunteers are needed for support
services to include the victim assistance program,auxiliary
services, parking enforcement, and animal control.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 IN GENERAL
A) That the number of police department volunteers eligible
for workers compensation coverage is 100 and the nature and
type of work is law enforcement support services to include
auxiliary services,the victim assistance program,parking
enforcement, and animal control.

B) That the salary equivalent for police volunteers under
A.R.S. § 23-901.06 for the City of Apache Junction is Four
Hundred Dollars and No Cents ($400.00) per month divided by
100 times an industry -wide multiplier determined by the
Arizona Municipal Risk Retention Pool for the purposes of
Workers'Compensation premium payments and compensation
benefits.
SECTION II REPEALING ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS
By passage of this resolution,Resolution No.06-30 passed and
adopted by the Mayor and City Council on July 18, 2006 is hereby
repealed,as well as any other conflicting ordinances,
resolutions,or parts of ordinances and resolutions relating to
Police Department volunteer Workers Compensation coverage and
benefits.
